Humidifiers are almost a must for anyone in cold climates where heat causes the air to become dry and static. Crane makes a humidifier that is shaped like animals that are fantastic. The Penguin one you can point the beak/output/spout in a chosen direction. They have a demineralization cartridge that lasts all season which helps keep that white powdery stuff from forming near the spout. You can put a Protec antimicrobial ball into the tank to help keep the water safer. Always use cold cold water to fill up the tank. They also have no filter to change which gets gross and harbors bacteria. Filters get expensive and having the Protec ball and demineralization cartridge eliminate the need for a filter if you use cold water and change it frequently. Cleaning it is pretty easy too. Having a humidifier keeps their skin more hydrated. This makes them (and you) much more comfortable. This also lessens the chances that dry itchy skin will cause plucking.
