Birds also have very efficient lungs. In order to produce the high amount of energy it takes to fly, a bird has to not only metabolize foods at a high rate but they also need to very efficiently use oxygen. That’s why birds will eat more than their weight in food each day. It’s where the phrase “eats like a bird” comes from. Due to that, stuff that wouldn’t make us humans think twice will kill a bird, sometimes in minutes or seconds. There is more in the Bird Safety Tab about this too but basically rid your house of Glade Plug Ins, spray deodorants, air fresheners, aerosol cleaners, etc. Let’s face it, if your house stank that bad, clean up the problem, don’t mask it. Birds will mess your house with paper shreds and such anyway too.
