Most huts and houses are Ok for birds but I will tell you this. Houses are not all that great because birds will poop in them and you have to clean them more often. Huts are good but beware the “Happy Hut”. When we first got Holly she almost died. If my wife hadn’t been sick and I was on the couch that morning, she would have. The “Happy Hut” is very durable and machine washable (use non scented and hypo allergenic detergent, VERY small amounts and NO fabric softener, preferably with no human items). However, they have a chicken wire mesh reinforcement that allows this durability. This is made of fishing line. Very strong. Holly managed to pull it out of its stitching and got her head caught. She pushed so hard trying to get out she bruised her beak. Bird beaks are like human fingernails. Have you ever bruised your fingernail? You know how hard it got hit to do so, that’s how hard she pushed because she was panicking. In fact, a lot of her “aggressiveness” we think is directly related to that 1 event so long ago that still influences her behavior today. Like kids with traumatic events in their past, acting out. If you get a hut, get the ones that have 3 parts put together in a triangle. The usually have a nice soft fuzzy inside with no fishing line mesh. I have also designed a hut but have had to halt production. If I get some made I’ll let you know.
