Transportation:
If you have to transport the birds in the winter make sure you have a blanket that fits over the whole cage. Your best bet is to take and old blanket and cut out holes for the cage handles on top, drape it over and duct tape the bottom so the blanket it seals out the cold. In case of a fire have a travel cage (the transport you use to take them to the vet) ready and near so that you can throw the bird in that cage, put a sweater around it and run out. They also have window stickers at pet stores and your local fire station that you can stick on your window and door to show the fire department how many and what type of animals may be in the house.
