Tree limbs can be good but you need to make sure of a few things. Going out and grabbing a tree branch switch off your back yard tree probably isn’t the best idea. Birds in the wild drink and bathe in muddy water. They have an immune system built up for wild outdoor living. Pet birds are like the boy in the bubble. Having no exposure to these things can be detrimental. A tree branch could have insects, wild bird poop on it that carries disease. It probably has rough bark that can scratch or injure your bird’s foot. Your best bet is to get branch from the pet store. They’re usually made of java wood which is very smooth. If you insist on getting one from the wild, strip the bark off, let it dry and sterilize it with rubbing alcohol and then rinse it and let it dry. There are probably instructions online on how to kiln the stick in your oven. Either way, make sure that wherever you get the wood from that it doesn’t have any sharp points or edges. File off any rough areas.
