Any time you do remodeling its best to get your birds out of the house if you have the ability to. Remodeling involves cutting materials which create dust, noise, chemicals etc. If you’ve ever done drywall work you know you have to wear a mask because you’re working with hazardous materials. These airborne particles can be harmful to your bird both due to the small size of your bird and their efficient lungs. If have no friends or family to turn to, find a boarding house or shelter that will do it. Some vet offices have that option but even if they don’t they probably know who does. If you’re spending 5 figures making a perfectly good room look “nicer” you can certainly spring for the cost of a few days or a couple of weeks boarding your bird as part of your remodeling expense budget.
We are having a fireplace torn out and painting done. We do have a basement downstairs which has been converted into my son’s room and then a separate bedroom from his. Do you think it would be safe to put the birds in the separate bedroom until the fireplace and painting is done? We are getting No VOC paint too.
