Preferences are different for every bird. Herbie will not touch a toy that doesn’t have a bell on it and even then the bell actually has to make noise. Word of advice for toys, try to keep the bird in mind. There are toys that are mimics of bowling and basketball games but a bird will never make that connection. Similar to adding color and shapes to food, these are designed for us humans to say “neat” and buy them when our bird will never sit there and think “awe shucks. I only got a spare that time” when playing with that bowling toy. Get them something they will actually play with vs. for attempted (and failed) human amusement. You will get to know your bird so if you see a new toy that you may wish to buy, think how your bird would use it. Then again, you never know so if you have the resources, it doesn’t hurt to try everything. But make sure that your bird is properly stimulated and happy so that it doesn’t lead down the road to destructive behavior.
